Yala National Park
Begin your adventure at Yala National Park, Sri Lanka’s most famous wildlife reserve and one of the best places for spotting the elusive Sri Lankan leopard. Yala is home to a wide array of wildlife, including elephants, crocodiles, sloth bears, wild boar, and a rich variety of bird species. The park’s diverse landscapes, from dense jungles to open grasslands and wetlands, make it an ideal habitat for a range of creatures. A safari jeep ride through Yala allows you to explore its vast expanses, offering thrilling opportunities to spot animals in their natural environment. The park is divided into several blocks, with Block I being the most famous for leopard sightings. The early morning or late afternoon safaris provide the best chances of spotting wildlife, especially during the cooler parts of the day when animals are more active.
